Ferring C.E. Primary School

A place to grow

Welcome to Ferring School Games sport!

At Ferring Primary School we take part in regular sporting competitions. Progress in these matches/tournaments can be checked regularly on here, as well as on the Angmering cluster website, which you can find here:

Y6 Basketball Tournament

On Wednesday 4th October our Y6 Basketball team competed in the Locality Basketball competition.  Five teams, including our own, took part in a round robin league tournament.  Therefore we played four games.  We drew the first game against East Preston Yellow (4-4) and won all of the next three games against Georgian Gardens Red (18-4), East Preston Green (8-6) and Georgian Gardens Black (24-2).  As a result we won the overall tournament and the children were presented with the trophy.  Luke S, Vinny, Matthew and Ella were the players representing our school and they all played brilliantly.  It was a particularly strong team effort as we had no subs so they all played every minute of every game.  They maintained high energy levels and thoroughly deserved the victory.  Well done to all of them and thank you to Matthew's older brother, Luke, who helped to coach the team during the tournament.

KS1 Angmering Half Mile

Well done to the children that took part in the Angmering Half Mile.  The children really enjoyed competing and finished 5th overall.  All of the boys finished in the top 10 with  our highest placed boy finishing 6th.  The girls also ran well with Poppy finishing in 2nd place and Florrie finishing 1st!

KS1 Angmering Half Mile

We've been competing again in the Angmering Half Mile.  This time Ferring finished as the overall winners!  As well as this, the girls took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places with Florrie, Ellie and Poppy taking them respectively.  Cassius, Jack P and Mack were our highest finishers amongst the boys finishing 3rd, 6th and 10th.  Well done again to all our little runners.

Y3/4 Football tournament

Nine of our children from Y3 and Y4 took part in a Locality football tournament at The Angmering School.  Nine teams took part in the tournament and Ferring finished 3rd overall, which was a great achievement.  We played four games, winning two and losing two.  The goalscorers were Ralph (2) and Stanleigh (1).  Everyone played their part in a great event and the boys should be very proud of themselves.  The squad consisted of: Dexter and Leo (Y3) and Thomas, Sammy, Ben, Matthew, Stanleigh, Ralph and Luke (Y4).

Y5/6 Indoor Athletics Tournament

Well done to the children that took part in the tournament.  We finished 4th in the end but there were very few points between 1st place and 4th place.  The children were willing to take part in any event asked of them and always gave them their best attempt.  Our athletes were: Finley, Sam, Isabella, Tamzin, Lara, Rebecca, Emma, Emmeline, Poppy, Luke B, Jack, Ben, Nadia, Luke S and Lillie.

X Country Finals at Windlesham House

Well done to Becky, Lillie, Rebecca, Emmeline and Nadia for competing so well at the finals.  It was a really challenging course and as a team the girls made a fantastic effort.  Well done also to Sam who was the only runner in the boys' race.  It was a very brave effort and he couldn't have tried harder.  Good practise for next year hopefully!

KS1 Multi Skills Tournament

Key Stage 1 children showed off their PE skills in front a large supporting crowd, when the participated in the latest multi-skills festival. They burned up plenty of energy as they took part in 10 different events for over an hour. The events included, throwing, catching, bouncing, agility, balance, coordination. kicking, hitting and precision throwing. Having completed all the events, the scores were added up and Golden Ferring went home as tired, but delighted, winners narrowly beating St. Margaret's and East Preston Infants.  Well done to all the children that took part: Mack, Cassius, William, Rudy, Jack, Summer, Sophie, Jayden, Ellie, Poppy, Savannah and Florrie.

Albion in the Community Tournament

On Thursday 8th February eight Y6 boys took part in the AITC Cup competition held at Lancing FC.  18 teams took part in the competition with the teams split into three leagues of six.  Ferring played really well and at the end of their five games the boys had won 1, drawn 1 and lost 3.  All of the defeats were by just one goal.  We scored 5 goals all together with Vinny scoring three and Luke B and Casper getting one each.  Vinny was our player of the tournament but all the boys put in a great performance, playing for each other and enjoying the day.

KS1 New Age Kurling Tournament

Well done to William and Finley from Canada Class who competed in the locality NAK tournament at The Angmering School.  This was their first experience of this type of sport and they both represented the school really well and thoroughly enjoyed the event.
