Please don't forget to read with your child at least 3 times a week!
Welcome to Italy Class!
We are excited and passionate about our learning in Reception. Our class teacher is Mrs Wells and Miss Glackin is our teaching assistant. We also have Miss Willard on Fridays. We plan with our teacher exciting activities and our environment and we are encouraged to share our ideas. We have a large classroom and an even bigger outside area!
Our learning is celebrated with our parents and carers through our Learning Explorer books and shared through Tapestry.
We are always encouraged to move our own learning forward by developing our interests, making our own choices and being independent learners.
We love working and playing together.
We are encouraged to 'have a go' and experience success!
We learn best when we are happy!
Weekly update (w/beginning 7.6.21):
Topic- This term our topic is called 'Creepy-Crawlies!' and we will be learning about lots of different insects, spiders, and water life. In class the children will be watching caterpillars grow and change into butterflies, observe our class ant farm and then watch new life as we hatch brine shrimp ('Sea Monkeys' as the colloquial term).
I hope the children enjoy their last term in Reception class. We are planning transition very carefully to ensure a smooth move to Year 1. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any worries or concerns that transition may present!
Tapestry- Please note, that as we start our transition to Year 1, uploads to Tapestry will become less. This is due to us moving into books for English and Maths lessons and the classroom starting to feel a little more grown up (just like Year 1). By the end of the summer term, we hope that all the children in class will feel confident about moving up to the next year group.
Phonics- This week we will be revising all sounds and tricky words taught this year and developing our blending skills for reading.
Maths- We will be learning about addition and how to solve simple addition problems.
Literacy- We are developing our descriptive vocabulary and writing sentences using different adjectives.
Library- Please ensure children are returning books on library days.
Reading- Children should be reading at least 3 times a week at home. Please use the reading record book to keep note of when you have read with your child and any comments about their reading.
Seasonal Weather - Please can you ensure that children are coming to school with a water bottle and hat as the weather is getting warmer.
Please can you ensure that children are not riding their bikes and scooters on the playground or pathways at the beginning or end of the day- we have had several near misses lately. I have spoken to the class and they are aware that if a member of staff sees them, they will temporarily lose their bike/scooter permit.
Please check book bags daily, whilst we use ParentMail for the majority of our communication, additional letters and information may get put in there (e.g. flu vaccination forms). You'll also find reading books/journals in there as well.
Please check that all items of clothing, water bottles, book bags and PE kits are named.
Children should only bring water into school in their water bottles- juice or squash is not permitted.
A fruit or vegetable snack is provided for the children every day but if you wish to provide an extra snack for your child you are more than welcome (fruit or vegetable based only).
There are no after school clubs this term at the moment due to Covid-19. If guidance changes, we will let you know.
If you wish to get in contact with me, please telephone or email the school office or on email@example.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
This year PE will be taking place on a Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure that children have a named PE kit in school that includes: coloured PE top, shorts, tracksuit bottoms/joggers and jumper/hoodie for colder weather and suitable footwear. It would be helpful to the children if tights were not worn on PE days as it does take them a little while to get changed when they first start PE lessons. Please also ensure that earrings are taken out on PE days or children are provided with tape to cover them over. The children should be able to remove/cover earrings themselves.
