Autumn 2016

October - Harvest Festival

We celebrated Harvest with a lovely service at St Andrew's Church.  Father Gary and Stuart Robinson the Baptist Minister led our worship and the children contributed by sharing the work they had been doing in school all about their knowledge and understanding of Harvest festival and how important it is.  Their work included art, D&T, music and drama. The choir performed and the whole school joined in to make it a very special occasion.

October - Anti-Bullying Production

Firehorse Productions visited us and put on a fantastic show called 'Sticks & Stones'.  The show was produced to get the children thinking about the issue of bullying in school and how they can go about identifying it and helping to stop it.  It dealt with a number of issues linked to bullying including how it is easier to stand up to people when you have friends to do it with; the importance of telling someone you trust if you think you are being bullied; the difference between just arguing or falling out with someone and bullying.  It reminded the children of the 'STOP' method of knowing if it is bullying - Several Times On Purpose. During Anti-bullying week in November the children will take part in further activities to help raise awareness.  I am sure the experience of seeing this great production will help. The children really enjoyed it.

November - Year 4 Drumming Concert

The children in Singapore class treated KS2 children as well as their own families to a fantastic drumming performance. Having only just started to learn how to play the Djembe drums this term is was a very talented first performance of the year.  We look forward to seeing them develop their skills further as the year progresses.

December - Rocksteady Concert

The children that have been taking part in the Rocksteady club put on a fantastic concert for their parents, carers and families.  They all rose to the occasion to demonstrate all that they have been learning and turned our school hall into Glastonbury for an afternoon.  Well done to all of them.

December - Christmas Fair

We had another fun-packed, busy and successful Christmas fair this year.  So many people contributed to a great evening.  Well done and thank you to everyone who got involved and everyone who turned up to enjoy the wide range of stalls and activities on offer.

December - KS1 Nativity & KS2 Musical

All of the children in school took part in entertaining performances which were enjoyed by so many of you during six shows in total.  There was fantastic acting, superb singing and great storytelling.  So many of the staff worked really hard to put the performances together and the children were dedicated and hard working to ensure the shows were as polished and professional as possible.  You all did a great job, well done.
